I have owned a variety of Walrus pedals over the years and keep coming back. For years now, the Jupiter fuzz has been my favorite fuzz that I have owned and is regularly on my pedal board. My favorite setting is the over compressed, full fuzz mode (right) with the bass all in and the treble anywhere between noon and three-o-clock. I feel like this mode does not get enough love out there. The open middle position is great for the more traditional classic fuzz tones and for the volume. The left mode is smoother and cutting while still fuzzy. Writing this, I realized that I use the modes to almost substitute the big three fuzzes, even though I'm not sure I would say that any of the modes are specifically linked or designed after those fuzzes. To clarify, I would use the open position for what I would think I would use a fuzz face for and then I use the right position for what I would go to a big **** for with heavy rhythm playing. Anyways I am just saying that this is a useable and versatile fuzz that doesn't try to be identical to other fuzzes while giving one of the best thick bass fuzz sounds around. And to be thorough, with the updated version there is a spitty fuzz internal option, I do not use this feature and have other fuzzes to get spatty.
Hey Dylan, Thanks for picking up a Jupiter! It looks like you are enjoying it. Thanks for the review. - Walrus Audio
