So I ordered the Silt before I even finished watching the YouTube videos on the Walrus Audio channel. I’ve had it for a bit now and all I can say is GREAT WORK!! With so many tube-driven pedals out there, it’s rare that any of them venture into Fuzz. The way that the Silt is uniquely designed in an almost reamp kind of way to accentuate harmonics is genius. I haven’t even begun to experiment with all of the possibilities that are there. So far, the Silt plays well with most amp types. I’ve tried it with a Marshall Plexi & JCM-800, a Fender Prosonic & vintage Tweed/BF Deluxes, as well as a Soldano SLO-30 & Zinky Blue Velvet 50. It played nicely with all of them, able to generate very usable tones including with the Harmonic switch engaged. After purchasing the Walrus Eons fuzz pedal when it came out, the Silt makes 2 killer fuzzes in a row. I ,also, bought a Meraki delay last year that is incredible too. Walrus Audio is on such a roll that you all have cemented yourselves as my favorite pedal company for a long time to come. Thanks!
Question though, is it possible to replace the 12AU7 tube with a 12AX7 to add more gain to the circuit or is this a big, fat NO??
Hey Jonny! We are glad you are loving the Silt! To answer your question, you do you! There is a step by step guide to changing the tube in the manual! Obviously a new tube will change the colors and tones of the pedal. Have fun! - Walrus Audio
